The Construction Products Association will launch its latest publication, An Introduction to Low Carbon Domestic Refurbishment on Wednesday 9 June, The guide is intended for builders who are carrying out refurbishment of existing houses and flats, but will also be of enormous interest to householders planning to refurbish their homes, to their professional advisers, such as architects, surveyors and energy consultants, as well as politicians and regulators.  The aim of the guide is to provide clear information about how to refurbish in a way that improves the energy efficiency of the building and therefore reduces carbon dioxide emissions from energy use for heating, hot water, lighting and domestic appliances. It deals with the basic principles and the preliminary considerations associated with planning a refurbishment project and then with each of the elements of a house in turn  – floors, walls, windows, heating systems, ventilation, electricity etc. Each section of the guide includes references and links to sources for more detailed information. It ends with a series of case studies which provide examples of a variety of low carbon refurbishment projects. If you would like to attend the launch, which takes place from 5.30 for 6.00pm at the Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT, please contact Avani Raval at the CPA.
