Do you wish to bid to buy a well respected company name, a unique way of manufacturing sliding sash & a full range of woodworking machinery? Further to the sad news that Sprowston Joinery & AmbassAdoor windows was to stop manufacture (see BWF News Update No. 185 – 26 March 2010) we now have confirmation that there will be an auction not only of machinery but more unusually the company name and customer base. The auction includes a nearly-new Weinig moulder that has only seen 3 months work, single ender, double ender , saws, planers, a Talbot shavings boiler and much more.  A good selection of well maintained machines that have not been used in multi-shift mass production factories. David Lomax MD of AmbassAdoor adds that with all the changes in building regulation, potential buyers have a chance to purchase a range of proven window designs that have been weather tested with a proven track record. ‘In a year we have produced thousands of sliding sash windows very competitively due to our assembly jigs etc and we have found that we cannot buy the windows at the right price to keep our profit margin. I could purchase windows cheaper from abroad but it will not support the growth of UK business therefore I would like to offer it to the BWF members” said Mr Lomax. AmbassAdoor was one of the early members to join the TWA scheme and its sister company Sprowston joinery was one of the oldest members of the BWF. David Lomax MD of AmbassAdoor said ‘it was a very sad day and he would like to thank all the BWF staff for all their help over the years’. David Lomax believes that being a member of BWF had helped in the success of his business and would like its history to carry on by another member of the BWF.
