Sick pay, redundancy pay and parental payments to increase on 6th AprilThe beginning of April sees the now traditional landslide of new legislation with new rules on tax, Heath & Safety and employment coming in to place within the first week of the month. There are a number of changes to the statutory pay rates which are as follows:

From 6th April 2015

– The rates of Statutory maternity, paternity, adoption pay and shared parental leave pay will increase to £139.58 per week.

– Statutory sick pay (SSP) rate will increase to £88.45 per week.

In addition to this

– The right to unpaid parental leave will be extended to parents of any child under the age of 18 years.

– The limit for a week's pay when calculating redundancy pay or compensation pay for basic unfair dismissal will increase to £475.
