Grown in Britain is a Government-backed, industry led organisation that’s bringing together a range of businesses and sectors to increase the supply and local use of home grown timber.
As a nation two thirds of our timber is imported and yet many of our woodlands are undermanaged and we need to create many more forests to get close to the European average woodland cover. With the wider construction sector being among one of the top three biggest users of timber, the potential to use home grown timber and help the sector meet its potential is clear.
The benefits of ‘buying British‘ are far reaching not just for jobs and growth but also for water quality, carbon balancing, wildlife and of course everyone who enjoys our wonderful forests and woods. The full impact of these benefits will be felt if more home grown timber is used across the construction supply chain.
British Woodworking Federation members are an important part of the supply chain that feeds the construction sector, and the Grown in Britain team wants to understand more about your views on using home grown timber. By taking part in a short online survey here – www.surveymonkey.com/s/FL7XPC6 you can help Grown in Britain open up the opportunities across the construction sector.
