This Level 2 qualification develops learners’ knowledge and skills in finishing and installing solid surfaces, covering tasks such as cutouts, positioning and fixing, and solid surface repairs.
This qualification is assessed through on-site assessment (OSAT) by experienced and qualified staff involved in this field.
The scope of this qualification includes assessing competence against the following NVQ units:

- Install solid surfaces on location
- Transport and handle equipment and materials
- Install structural supports
- Prepare location for installation

- Finish composite worktops
- Seam solid surfaces
Optional Units (you will choose a maximum of 2 units depending on the types of jobs you regularly do)
- Develop customer relationships
- Apply adhesives to components
- Complete standard cut-outs in work surfaces
- Finish composite worktops
- Position components and apply cramps
- Prepare and assemble components to specification
- Use and maintain jigs and templates
- Repair solid surfaces
- Thermoform solid surfaces
- Prepare location for installation
- Re-instate locations after installation
- Create edge build up in solid surfaces
