The Wood Window Alliance
The Alliance's objectives are to:
– Set the industry standards for high quality timber windows sold in the UK and Irish market
– Offer the reassurance of a quality benchmark for window performance, service life and sustainability
– Promote the advantages of wood and wood composite windows to architects, builders, local authorities, conservation groups and retail customers.
The Alliance is committed to backing its claims with authoritative, independent research and to promoting informed debate on issues such as service life, sustainability, and cost value comparisons; it has commissioned Imperial College London, Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh and Davis Langdon to publish academic studies on the use and specification of timber products, and their environmental and economic impacts.
It was formed in 2007 by a group of leading joinery manufacturers, installers and component suppliers. The growing membership now reflects the wide range and diversity of high performance wood windows available in the UK and Irish window markets; supplying new and replacement windows for modern and period domestic properties, social housing, schools, hospitals and commercial property.
