The IFSEC Global influencers list has recognised the dedication and passion of Hannah Mansell, Head of Technical Research and Insight at the British Woodworking Federation by placing her at number eight in 2018’s top ten fire safety global influencers.
The list includes individuals that have played a key role in driving technological innovation, changing regulation, standards guidance or best practice, raising the industry’s profile or those who have been an influential voice in the national media. It also considers professionals that have been instrumental in the success of their organisation or business, and who’s insights and opinions help shape debate around industry issues.
Acknowledging her passion and commitment to improving fire safety through the BWF-Certifire scheme, as Chair of the Passive Fire Protection Forum and as a Trustee of the Children’s Burns Trust and winner of the ASFP Passive Fire Protection Advocate of the Year 2017, it was her work as the spokesperson for Fire Door Safety Week where judges felt Hannah had ‘really made an impact on the media’.
The judges applauded Hannah’s ability to reach and influence the general public as well as the fire industry through her appearances on numerous national and regional media channels as well as other public awareness and knowledge sharing events.
Notable nominations of Hannah included:
“Fire Door Safety Week! A huge PR success and a fantastic way of promoting best practice in fire safety.”
“Campaigned tirelessly once again to raise public awareness on fire safety issues, getting London Fire Brigade and the Govt’s Chief Fire Officer involved in the campaign, and working with them to conduct TV and radio interviews that reached more than 4.6 million viewers on just one day. Through her advice and support of local residents concerned about fire safety in their blocks of flats, Hannah has helped to persuade the relevant landlords and fire authorities to get those homes improved.”
Hannah Mansell said, “I’m honoured to feature on the IFSEC Global influencer list for fire safety alongside so many other respected and passionate individuals, but really any applause should go to my amazing colleagues and other stakeholders of Fire Door Safety Week who have encouraged and enabled me to do this.
“Fire Door Safety Week has been successful in raising awareness of the vital role that fire doors play in protecting building occupants and stopping the spread of fire and smoke. But our work is definitely not yet done, this year’s Fire Door Safety Week aims to raise awareness of the dangers of smoke inhalation and the role that correctly installed fire doors can do in delaying the spread of both fire and smoke. The Fire Door Five campaign will empower our stakeholders to be armed with accurate knowledge about fire door safety, and join our initiative by using the Five Step Fire Door Check to identify and report any issues with installed fire doors.”
Fire Door Safety Week will take place from 24th September – 30th September 2018. For more information, please visit: www.firedoorsafetyweek.co.uk
